Wyde Footwear vs Bahé: Stack Height, Materials and Returns Compared

Wyde Footwear and Bahé both make shoes with a wide toe box and zero drop. Zero drop means the heel and the toes sit at the same height, like standing barefoot. The two brands differ in how thick the sole is, what the upper is made of and where the shoes are meant to be worn. Wyde Footwear makes leather and suede shoes for everyday wear on concrete and pavement. Bahé, a UK-based brand, makes grounding shoes in three cushioning levels, with recycled and plant-based materials. This page compares stack height, fit and width, materials, prices and returns.

How do the stack heights compare?

The ranges overlap closely. Bahé offers 10, 14 and 22 mm of total stack height, and Wyde's models run from 10 mm plus insole to 22 mm.

Bahé calls its three cushioning levels Modes. Revive Flex is 10 mm, Revive Adapt is 14 mm and Revive Endurance is 22 mm. Each figure includes a removable 3 mm insole. Flex has no midsole, which gives the most ground feel. Bahé says Flex suits people who already enjoy minimal shoes, and Endurance suits longer days on hard surfaces.

At Wyde, the Nova sneaker has a stack height of 10 mm plus the insole. The Maia, Maia Strap and Nilo have a 10 mm cork midsole and a 4.6 mm rubber outsole, 14.6 mm in total. The Soma has a 22 mm stack height.

Are the stack height figures measured the same way?

Not exactly. Bahé's figures include the removable insole. Wyde lists the Nova as 10 mm plus the insole, so a Nova with its insole is thicker than the 10 mm shown. By these figures, the Bahé Flex is the thinner of the two shoes. If you want the most ground feel, Bahé is the better match.

At the thick end, the Bahé Endurance and the Wyde Soma both list 22 mm. Wyde says its soles are really bendy, so the foot can move freely. Bahé says Endurance is slightly less flexible than Flex and Adapt.

How do Wyde Footwear and Bahé compare on fit and width?

Both brands use a foot-shaped toe box, and Wyde lists a wider insole than Bahé in every size the two share. In EU 42, Wyde lists 11.2 cm and Bahé lists 10.3 cm.

How wide are the insoles in each size?

  • EU 36: Wyde 10.0 cm, Bahé 9.3 cm
  • EU 42: Wyde 11.2 cm, Bahé 10.3 cm
  • EU 47: Wyde 12.2 cm, Bahé 11.1 cm

These are the insole widths from each brand's size guide. Bahé lists them in millimetres for Revive, Rewild and Rediscover, and the Respire sandal has its own chart. The other shared sizes follow the same pattern: Wyde is wider in EU 37, 38, 41, 43 and 46 as well. Bahé's chart also has EU 39.5 and 44.5, which Wyde does not make.

Bahé says it sits on the wider, higher-volume end of the spectrum among barefoot-style shoes. It also lets you adjust the volume: take the insole out for more room, or add a second insole for a snugger fit. Bahé puts that range at roughly 6 mm.

How do you choose your size at each brand?

At Wyde, you choose by foot length only. Wyde makes full EU sizes 36 to 47 with no half sizes, and says to size up if you are between sizes. Every Wyde model has the wide toe box as standard, so you do not size up for width. Wyde's size guide says the shoes may feel more spacious at first. If you own Wyde sneakers, size down one size for the Maia sandal.

Bahé asks you to measure your foot and use its size guide instead of your usual size. It says your foot should ideally be about 10 mm shorter than the insole length on the guide. Bahé sells men's and women's versions, while Wyde sells unisex shoes. For the full Wyde rules on exchanges and fit, see Wyde Footwear Sizing, Size Exchanges and Returns Explained.

What materials do Wyde Footwear and Bahé use?

Wyde uses leather or suede on its sneakers, sandals and boots, apart from the Soma, which has an air mesh and suede upper. Bahé's Revive trainers use recycled polyester mesh and are listed as vegan.

What are Wyde shoes made of?

Wyde's Nova has a leather upper in every colourway, a rubber outsole and a Coolmax lining on most colourways. Nova Fly adds DRONEE textile to the nubuck leather. Nova White has an LWG Silver certified aniline leather upper. Most other Nova colourways list LWG Gold certified leather, and Nova Patent Black lists patent leather with no LWG rating. The Maia and Maia Strap have a waxed leather upper with a suede lining. The Nilo has a suede upper. Both have a cork midsole, and all three list LWG Gold certified leather or suede from Portugal.

The Soma has an air mesh and suede upper with a velvet lining, an EVA midsole and a rubber outsole. Wyde has no vegan shoes, because every model uses leather or suede.

What does an LWG rating mean?

LWG stands for Leather Working Group. Its audit is an assessment of how a tannery measures, controls and reports the impact of its manufacturing operations. To be rated Gold, a tannery must reach at least 85% in every scored section, and Silver needs at least 75%. The rating describes the tannery that made the leather, not the finished shoe.

What are Bahé Revive shoes made of?

The Revive pages list an upper and lining with 30% recycled polyester mesh, organic cotton laces and an outsole with 65% natural rubber. The insole is a bio-foam with 72% bio-content. Bahé marks the Revive as vegan and says many of its materials are plant-based or include recycled content. If you want animal-free materials, Bahé is the better choice. If you want leather or suede, choose Wyde.

Where are the shoes made and shipped from?

Wyde makes the Nova, Maia, Maia Strap, Nilo, Chelsea and Norra by hand in Portugal, and makes the Soma in China. Bahé is UK-based and ships from warehouses in the UK and the Netherlands.

Wyde says its leather models come from three family-run factories in Portugal. The Soma is made by a long-standing partner in China, which Wyde says is ISO 9001:2015 certified for quality management and BSCI audited. Bahé sends EU orders from its warehouse in the Netherlands, and says orders to the EU carry no additional customs or import duties.

How do the sandals compare?

Wyde's Maia and Maia Strap are leather strap sandals, and Bahé's Respire is a toe-post sandal. Both are zero drop.

The Maia has a waxed leather upper with a suede lining, a cork midsole, a rubber outsole and metal buckles. The Maia Strap lists the same materials and stack height. Both are handmade in Portugal and cost 1,425 kr or €130.

The Respire has a toe post, adjustable front and back straps, a wide fit and 2.5 mm lugs on the sole. Its upper is 100% recycled webbing and its footbed is 30% sugarcane EVA. Bahé lists it as vegan and says it suits casual wear, hiking and trail runs. It costs around €99.

What does grounding add, and which brand suits trails?

Grounding is Bahé's signature feature, and Bahé also makes shoes for trails. Wyde shoes are made for everyday wear on concrete and pavement, not for hiking or rough terrain.

Bahé's Revive shoes use a Ground Flow System, which is a conductive pathway from foot to ground. Bahé lists them as certified to be conductive in accordance with EN ISO 20347:2022. Bahé says the effect works only on a grounded surface. Wet grass, soil, sand and unsealed stone are more likely to conduct. Many indoor floors are not reliably grounded, and some concrete can be conductive depending on moisture and sealants.

For wetter or rougher ground, Bahé says its Rewild trainers are built more for outdoor use, with waterproof protection and a more rugged upper for trails. It also sells the Rediscover hiking boot. If you want trail shoes, Bahé is the better choice.

How do prices compare?

As of October 2026, the Bahé Revive trainers cost less than the Wyde Nova, and the Wyde Soma costs the same as the Revive Adapt. Wyde prices are in SEK and EUR, and Bahé prices are in GBP and EUR.

Wyde's Nova costs 2,375 kr or €215. Nova Patent Black costs 2,500 kr or €225. The Soma costs 1,875 kr or €179 in most colours, and Soma Earth Black costs 1,975 kr or €189. The Nilo costs 1,675 kr or €155 and the Maia costs 1,425 kr or €130.

On bahe.co, the Revive Flex costs £139 or around €169, the Revive Adapt costs £149 or around €179 and the Revive Endurance costs £159 or around €189. The Respire sandal costs £89 or around €99. The two 22 mm shoes are close in price: the Wyde Soma costs €179 and the Bahé Endurance around €189.

Prices change with sales and by market, so check both sites before you buy. For every Wyde model and what it includes, see Wyde Shoe Prices: What Each Model Costs and What You Get.

How do the return policies compare?

Both brands give you 30 days from receiving the order. Wyde offers free size exchanges in Sweden, the EU and the USA, and Bahé asks the customer to pay return shipping.

At Wyde, you register a return or exchange in the return portal within 30 days of delivery. You can try the shoes on indoors on a clean floor, and they must come back unused in the original box. For refunds, Wyde deducts a fee: €10 in the EU and 100 SEK in Sweden. A prepaid label is provided in Sweden, the EU and the USA.

At Bahé, you have 30 days after receiving the item. The shoes must be unworn, except that they can be worn indoors to try on for fit. The customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping. In some regions Bahé offers a prepaid return label, and its cost is deducted from the refund.

Which brand should you choose?

Choose by the sole and the materials, because the toe box and zero drop are similar. Wyde suits leather or suede sneakers, sandals and boots for city wear. Bahé suits animal-free materials, a thinner sole, grounding or trail use.

Pick Wyde if you want a handmade leather or suede shoe, free size exchanges in the EU and the USA, or a wider insole at the same size. Pick Bahé if you want the most ground feel, vegan materials, a hiking boot or trail trainers, or a lower euro price than the Nova.
